Want to find a little piece of paradise that’s caters to everyone? What if it has a lake, beach, fishing spots, boating, grilling, camping, hiking, and even a swimming pool? If any of those things you enjoy, I found another hidden gem. Marsh Creek State Park is located in Downingtown, PA, which is about 15 minuets from West Chester University, and is approximately 1,727 acres in size. In my 4 years of attending WCU I never knew of Marsh Creek till I recently went with my family. This place has it all and there is something for everyone!

*Marsh Creek has a big, beautiful, clean lake. You can rent various types of boats or you can lower your own boat into the lake. There is a patch of sand for the beach lovers where you can sit or lay out, and plenty of shady trees to sit under right next to the lake. Grab a bite to eat from the snack bar or bring your own food, and relax by the water!
*If the camping lifestyle is more of your forte, contact the facility to set up your camping equipment.
*There are plenty of good fishing spots to set up at and hope the fish will nibble at your line. Once you’re done fishing, you can either go for a hike, or nestle yourself in a camping location. There are a lot of quiet spots to stake out to enjoy the beauties of nature.
*There is a large swimming pool with fun water accessories to keep everyone cool. Next to the pool are playgrounds, water fountains and bathrooms, with wheelchair accessibility. If you wanted to bring your own food to grill, there are spots around Marsh Creek that you can have your grill fired up, your music pumping, and have space to throw a football. If you want to grill but want more privacy, there are other sections in the park to have more space in the woods, and less people.

If you go I hope you have as much fun as I did, where there are lots of friendly people to hang out with who also like to enjoy the beauties and fun this park offers. You won’t be disappointed!
